Fallen Tree Trailer Hire v1.0 - by DiCanio

This Mod turns the Fallen Tree factory, and the nearby RS Haul depot
complex, into a trailer and caravan hire business. This Mod is for all 
the trailer nuts out there. You'll find every trailer and coupling vehicle 
at either of the two depots - Road Trains, Line Runners, Petrol artic 
units, and their accompanying trailers; Utility vans, Tugs, Baggage 
handlers, and their accompanying trailers, plus forklifts, Tow trucks, 
Tractors, and a good selection of new and used caravans ;o) 
More than 50 vehicles were added or changed in the making of this 
Mod and you'll find a few other special vehicles dotted about, like the 
Dozer for example. There is enough space to do some serious practice 
with your artic driving skills, especially reversing the damn things ;o)
You DO NOT have to start a new game to use this Mod.

You can only add FIVE new DFF files to GTA San Andreas. This is a
limitation in the game engine. If you have added any NEW DFF's via 
another Mod you will need to HASH (#) out the other Mod in your
GTA.dat file.

A NEW DFF is a DFF which has been custom created and doesn't 
share a file name with any existing files in the GTA3.img file.
At present only MAP Mod files can be added in DFF format.

How to get there:
You could teleport - see NOTE 10 below.
RS Haul:  -131.2118, -1252.449, 3.1237
Fallen Tree factory:  -426.9745, -635.7285, 11.687

Fallen Tree is in Red County and possibly the best way to get there is
via the Santa Maria beach area. There is a little bridge just up from
where the lighthouse is. Cross this bridge into Red County and head 
straight. You'll find the old RS Haul depot, now the new workshops 
of the Fallen Tree Trailer Hire Company, on your right about a mile 
away. The main factory is further on. Go up the hill outside the 
workshops and take the second right which is beside a pylon - it's a 
sharp turn and easily missed. Turn right at the bottom of this short
road and you'll see the Fallen Tree depot up on your left.

Spark allows you to add multiple files whereas with IMG Tool
you can only add files one at a time. However, you can't rebuild 
your GTA3.img file with Spark, only with IMG Tool.
It is recommended that you REBUILD your GTA3.img file after
adding this Mod. See instruction ~06~ below.



INSTRUCTIONS:

Script Install

~01~
Install San Andreas Mod Installer.

~02~
Double click the Fallen.Tree.Trailer.Hire.v1.0.sami file in the Install Script 
folder. Point SAMI to the Fallen.Tree.Trailer.Hire.v1.0_by_DiCanio folder
which you have just unzipped. SAMI will start and install the Mod. It 
will also make back-up copies of any files it replaces so that you can 
uninstall the Mod with ease. These backup files are in the GTA San 
Andreas directory under 'Backups'. Also in this folder is the uninstall
script - backup.sami.

~03~
Rebuild your GTA3.img file using IMG Tool v2.0 - see ~06~ below.

~04~
If you have any problems see PROBLEMS below.
Make sure you Rebuild the GTA3.img file!

Manual Install

Please follow these instructions carefully

Remember to make backup copies of any files you will be replacing
or deleting. Installing this Mod 'by hand' is an easy enough process.


~01~  
Open your GTA3 IMG file and rename or delete the following files. 
You can rename them individually to something like 
e.g. countryw_stream3-BAKipl
Remember to make backup copies if you are deleting them!

countryw_stream0.ipl
countryw_stream3.ipl
countryw_stream4.ipl
countrys_1.col 

Now add ALL the files in the BIN folder, you'll find it in the MOD folder 
of this Mod, to your GTA3.img file.

~02~
Add all the files in the DFF folder of this Mod to your GTA3.img file.

~03~ 
Rename or delete the following TXD files in your GTA3.img file.

artict1.TXD
break_s_bins.TXD
break_s_ws.TXD
cj_ext_vend.TXD
cuntwlandcarparks.TXD
cw2_storesnstuff.TXD
cwestfac.TXD
lodlawnland.TXD
truckedepotlawn.TXD

Now add ALL the files in the TXD folder, you'll find it in the MOD folder 
of this Mod, to your GTA3.img file.

~04~  
Add the FallenT.ide & FallenT.ipl files from the MAP folder of this 
Mod to your DATA\MAPS folder.

~05~
Replace the gta.dat file in your DATA folder with the one in the MAP 
folder of this Mod.

~06~
Rebuild your GTA3.img file using IMG Tool. Click the Rebuild Archive 
option under the Commands menu.

NOTE 1:
Death To Roadblocks
Rockstar decided to give the player 4 stars if she/he left the first island 
without completing all the missions. You can use a Main.scm Mod 
to get round this or the Death To Roadblocks Mod and the Pizza 
trainer included with this Mod. See the Readme.txt file in the
SA.Death.To.Roadblocks_by_DiCanio zip file in the STUFF folder.


NOTE 2:
If you have the excellent Map Viewer program from Steve M you can 
load the MapViewer.lua file which comes with this Mod into Map 
Viewer. Once the script is loaded, and you press F11, Map Viewer 
will go into camera flight mode and travel along the route at car 
height from Grove Street to Fallen Tree showing you one of the 
quicker ways to get there.
See the Map Viewer Files folder in the STUFF folder for instructions.


NOTE 3:
There are only so many vehicles that will spawn at any one time in a 
set location. This is a limitation in the game, though I rather see it as 
a bonus at times. It means that every time you go to the Fallen Tree 
factory or nearby workshop and gas station some of the vehicles you 
see will be different from your last visit. Just drive away a short 
distance and come back again to see changes in parked vehicles. For
example, when testing this Mod I would drive to the Chemical Works
(which is a hard right at the main gate and head over the hills) and
back or drive to the little row of houses just up from Fallen Tree (turn
left at the end of the wee road where you turned right before in order
to get to the factory from the old RS Haul depot).
To see spawning changes at the Garage I'd either drive back to the 
wee bridge that leads to Santa Maria beach or head straight over the 
hills in front of the old RS Haul depot then make my way back by 
various routes. Often parked vehicles will change at one side of the
factory while you're busy at the other side.


NOTE 4:
You DO NOT need to start a new game in order to use this Mod. 
With previous GTA games adding or changing parked vehicle 
meant messing with the Main.scm file which in turn forced you 
to start a new game. Adding vehicles via IPL files negates this.


NOTE 5:
This is the first Mod with vehicles which have been added via the 
IPL file and the Binary IPL files so it's pretty much an untested 
genre. More than 50 vehicles were changed or added and the Mod 
was thoroughly tested with no problems occurring. 
However, those with heavily Modded games, e.g. those with a 
number of custom cars added, may have trouble. Often when 
adding custom vehicles the GTA game limits become even more 
limited owing to the size of DFF and TXD files. 
There is a note in the Cars section of the FallenT.ipl file which says:
'#Hash out the entries below if you are having problems'
I'm not sure if this will help any problems which may occur, or 
indeed if there WILL be any problems, but it seems sensible to 
Hash-Out some vehicles in case of loading problems. Hashing out 
these entries won't spoil your enjoyment of this Mod.


NOTE 6:
One small annoyance was finding a good gatehouse building for the 
factory entrance. Everything I tried, that looked half-decent, caused 
some sort of game lag when moving towards the building. I'm not
sure what causes this but it may have been a combination of a 
pre-lit building and the giant Redwoods behind it. The one I 
preferred was the light wooden one, which I have left in as default. 
It has some neat lighting effects, especially at night. I've left two 
other choices in the FallenT.ipl file. You can choose either the 
gatehouse from Las Venturas airport (ID 8168) or the Teepee hire 
office (ID 11431) from the canyon area. Just hash (#) out the one you 
don't want and un-hash the one you'd like to use.


NOTE 7:
Disengaging trailers.
It is pretty easy to detach trailers from artic units and with a little 
practice you can park trailers fairly accurately too. To detach a trailer
just reverse slowly. The trailer will end up at about a 90 degree angle
from the unit and jump off. Just drive slowly forward after it jumps off. 
The trailer will then put itself into an upright position ready for 
coupling. Do the same with Utility trailers though they can be tricky 
to park correctly. Just reverse slowly, as described above, and 
eventually the trailer will jump off.


NOTE 8:
If you want to see different Peds walking about the factory then add to 
this group in the Pedgrp.dat file.

NOTE 9:
This map was a lot of fun in the making and I enjoyed it immensely. 
The lack of a Moo Mapper certainly made it a challenge though
Steve M's Map Viewer and Rotation Calculator programs came to
the rescue....  PLUS a whole lot of patience ;o)
A few wee jumps have been added to keep the stunters happy and
some weapons are dotted about in case you get itchy fingers :o)
A Squalo is close by if you fancy a cruise on the nearby Loch and 
there's also some well hidden air transport ;o)
See how long it takes you to reverse, without any faults, an 
articulated trailer into one of the loading bays at the main 
factory - see screenshots.


NOTE 10:
If you teleport to either location you may find that there are no vehicles
spawned. This is a game limitation. You would be advised to drive 
there or once you teleport grab a vehicle and drive away and come back.
It is standard practice to go away and come back again to see changes
in spawned vehicles - see NOTE 3.
If you teleport to RS Haul drive to the factory first or vice versa - if you 
teleport to the factory then drive over the hill to RS Haul. This will give 
the game time to spawn some vehicles :o)


PROBLEMS:
Game Doesn't Load

~01~
You can only add FIVE new DFF files to San Andreas. This is a game
limitation and there is no known way round this at present. You
will need to HASH (#) out any other Map Mods in your GTA.dat file 
that have unique DFF files - i.e. anything that adds a new IDE file..

~02~
If you used the SAMI script file did you check that all files were added
correctly? Simply open your GTA3.img file and check the end of the
file list where all new files are added. Are the IDE & IPL files in the
correct place? Does the GTA.dat file have entries for FallenT.ide &
FallenT.ipl? Easy enough to check these.

~03~
Did you try hashing (#) out some vehicles in the CAR section of the 
FallenT.ipl as recommended above? See NOTE 5

~04~
If you used SAMI to add this Mod then check that all the files were 
added correctly. See under Manual Install above for details of the files 
that get replaced or added.
Make sure you Rebuilt your GTA3.img file!



Some original files are included for your convenience in the Original 
File folder. The SA Death To Roadblocks Mod is also included as are 
the usual goodly selection of screenshots. Truck On!
